Priyanka Jain, Humanity Changemaker

Meet Priyanka Jain, CEO and Co-Founder of Evvy.

Jain’s mission at Evvy is to close the gender health gap, starting by decoding the vaginal microbiome. Evvy was founded by Jain and co-founder Laine Bruzek to address the dearth of research into women’s bodies that leads to, on average, diagnoses four years later than men for over 750 diseases.
“Our aim at Evvy is to close this gender health gap by studying previously overlooked female biomarkers, starting with the vaginal microbiome,” said Jain. “With Evvy, we’re hoping to give women and people with vaginas access to data-driven insights on their own bodies, while doing the research to improve diagnoses and treatments for conditions in the female body.”
When Jain first launched Evvy, educating both healthcare providers and the public on what the company provided proved to be a challenge. “Most people with vaginas don’t even know they have a vaginal microbiome — so we not only need to educate them about its existence but also the fact that it can have a significant effect on overall health,” explained Jain. “On top of that, vaginal health is still an extremely taboo topic, so it’s clear we’re fighting an uphill battle to get the word out.” Evvy isn’t only fighting to advance women’s healthcare; it’s also advancing women in the biotechnology industry with a staff completely made up of women.
Jain acknowledges that Evvy would not exist today without a network of advisors, mentors and investors, and has found that others in her network are eager to help when asked. It’s a network that Jain will continue to grow and tap into as Evvy reaches new heights. Building a network is most effective when you make yourself easy to help, says Jain, who asks concrete and specific questions and does advance research on her peers’ networks.
A strong network is essential for success in a business of any size, and we’re proud that Jain is a member of the Humanity Talent Network, a private membership network of underrepresented leaders in healthcare and life sciences. Create a network of Changemakers like Jain by joining HTN today.
